His efforts include adjunct professorship, teaching countless individual classes, and securing multi-million dollar in-kind donations for scores of universities including Colorado State University - Fort Collins & Pueblo, University of Colorado - Boulder & Denver, Purdue, Kansas State University, University of Kansas, Virginia Tech, UCLA, Edinburgh Napier University, . . . just to name drop a few!
As a registered Journeyman Carpenter certified after completion of the Apprenticeship Program through the UBC Local 515 (now Local 555), we understand the value unions bring to the table. The unions offer worker protections, living wages, paid training, as well as pushing for women in the trades, helmets to hardhats programs for veterans, and Associates Degree credits. Ian has taught, created curriculum, and secured donations for numerous national and local union training programs including the UBC, UA (& UA CAN), SMART, IBEW, IW, IMI, OPCMIA, and others.
Trade Schools, Vocational Programs and Community Colleges are another great resource for valuable upskilling and personal improvement. We have worked with various colleges, trade schools and vocational program partners across the world to improve their technical and industry offerings. Online learning management systems (LMS) are utilized to help scale our educational efforts across the innumerable learning institutions, in combination with direct training, consultations, and in-kind donations.
Advancements in IoT (Information of Things), cloud computing, hardware and software are hard to keep up with even if it wasn't our full-time job. Through Train-the-Trainer experience in 3D modeling, LIDAR (laser scanning), high-precision layout with robotic total stations, GNSS, Mixed-Reality, and other tech, we are able to advise on workflows to build your project in virtual reality right the first time, before any demolition or procurement even begins.
We offer mentorships and internships for individuals who exhibit a strong commitment to life-long learning and continuous improvement. Selected individuals benefit from career coaching, task and safety training, educational and financial advisement. Development includes creation of "Curriculum in a Can for Every Program" that can be easily consumed and scaled across various organizations. Subjects range from project management, basic surveying and layout, current trends in construction technology, design-build best practices, and facilities management. We work with your company or department to suggest software, hardware and services to help train the next generation for future workflows.
